The actor Sawamura Tanosuke II (1788-1817) held this name from the 11th lunar month of 1801 to the 1st lunar month of 1817. Third son of Sawamura Sōjūrō III. He debuted in Edo in 1793. Good looking and gifted as a dancer, he became known as one of the most promising wakaonnagata (male actors playing female roles), during the first part of the nineteen century.
