Two gelatin silver prints on glossy paper, possibly portraits of Dora Kallmus or her sister Anna, taken in different settings in France in the mid-20th century. Though stylistically distinct—one a studio headshot, the other a seaside scene—the woman’s facial features suggest a shared identity.
SVE-0606-1.2025: 222 × 166 mm, gelatin silver print, unmounted, by Henri Manuel (French, 1874–1947); a woman with hair swept up, wearing a polka-dot blouse and scarf, her head turned to the right and gaze directed to the left, softly lit against a neutral background; scalloped edges. Photographer’s stamp to verso: Henri MANUEL, 27 Rue du Faubourg Montmartre, PARIS... Épreuve sur papier Guilleminot.
SVE-0606-2.2025: 290 × 230 mm, gelatin silver print, unmounted, by A. de la Rochefoucauld (French, active mid-20th century); a woman seated on a rock by the sea in a floral two-piece bathing suit, facing the viewer and smiling, holding a pair of eyeglasses in one hand. Photographer’s stamp to verso: Photo A. de la ROCHEFOUCAULD, MENTION OBLIGATOIRE, DROITS DE REPRODUCTION RÉSERVÉS.
