Large-format pictorial map of Kyoto from the late Edo period, presenting a gridded city plan centered on the Imperial Palace (京都御所), surrounded by prominent temples, shrines, and natural landmarks. The Kamo and Katsura rivers are prominently featured, as are roadways and outer rural zones extending to the edge of the city. Decorative vignettes of mountains and vegetation frame the map.
The map is oriented with north at the top, and red cartouches along the margins mark the cardinal directions (東, 西, 南, 北). Folded for portability, this map served as a functional city plan and a culturally enriched reference object.
