Note: George Augustus Sala's mother was an actress Henrietta Simon Sala, known as Madame Sala, (Guyanese, British, 1789 – 1860). Here she is depicted by an engraver Thomas Alfred Woolnoth (British, 1785 – 1857) after a portrait painted by Rose Emma Drummond (British, fl. 1820 – 1840).
