Bara, Honoré [HB] (French, c. 1812–after 1860)
Honoré Bara was a French wood engraver active in Paris during the mid-19th century. Signing his individual blocks with the monogram "HB," he specialized in cutting illustrative matrices for historical surveys, topographical guides, and satirical literature published during the July Monarchy and the Second Empire. He frequently operated in a workshop partnership with fellow printmaker Gérard, signing collaborative plates as "Bara et Gérard." His notable work includes architectural and street scenes for Louis Lurine’s Les rues de Paris (1844) and engravings for Eugène Briffault’s Paris à table (1854)
