Westermann, Hans-Jürgen (German, collector, fl. 1950s–2017)

German collector Hans-Jürgen Westermann, active from the 1950s onward, developed an interest in the ancient cultures of the Americas during business travels to Latin America and assembled a significant collection in the 1960s through acquisitions in Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Germany; the Westermann Collection was loaned to Dresdner Bank in Frankfurt am Main between 1991 and 1995 and subsequently curated under contract by the bank, before being returned to the market in 2017 by the Munich-based auction house Gerhard Hirsch Nachfolger.
