Description: Bust-length, three-quarter to the right; head slightly lowered, intent gaze; full beard; high-collared coat; dense cross-hatching against a shaded ground. Portrait of Mark Matveevich Antokolsky (1843–1902), a leading Russian realist sculptor of Jewish origin, elected Academician of the Imperial Academy of Arts in 1871 and appointed Professor of Sculpture in 1880. Etched after Ivan Kramskoi’s original.
