Суд проходил в марте 1909 года. Бывший директор департамента полиции А. А. Лопухин обвиняется в том, что выдал провокатора Е. Ф. Азефа партии социалистов-революционеров. А. Я. Пассовер защищал Лопухина на этом суде. Суд присудил Лопухина (1 мая 1909 г.) к 5 годам каторжных работ с лишением всех прав состояния. Решением Общего собрания кассационных департаментов правительствующего сената, в виду смягчающих вину обстоятельств, каторга была заменена ссылкой на поселение.

Landwehr cites two editions after the 1st of 1701: Amsterdam 1732 and Cologne 1786 [i.e. 1736]. Both Lewine and Cohen-DeRicci attribute the text to Louis XI and mention the 1736 reprint (though not 1786). The first edition of “Les cent nouvelles nouvelles” appeared in 1486 by commission of Duke of Burgundy Philippe le Bon; the text is attributed to Philippe Pot (1428 – 1493), Antoine de La Sale (c. 1385 – c. 1460) or King Louis XI (1423 – 1483). The story was written by Rudolf Erich Raspe in English and published anonymously in book form in Oxford in 1786 under the title Baron Munchausen's Narrative of his marvellous travels and campaigns in Russia, etc. The French translation from German of Gottfried August Bürger was performed by Théophile Gautier and published by Charles Furne in Paris in 1862 with illustrations after Gustave Doré – 158 wood engravings, including a frontispiece, 1 vignette on the title, 31 full-page plates and 125 vignettes in the text). Korney Chukovsky retold the Raspe story in Russian using the Būrger-Gautier version of the text, changing the order, time, and location of events. In addition, artist Yuri Syrnev (Ю. А.
