It seems possible that the 1699 edition is, in fact, of the same issue, and that only the first quires of both volumes, which include the title pages were replaced by new ones with the new date, to make the book look more up to date. - The edition of 1702, also published by Gallet has "seconde édition", which, we think, sustains our theory." Qualifiée d'histoire d'amour, cette œuvre d'Henri de Régnier est dédiée à Gilbert de Voisins, poète et romancier, en témoignage de fraternelle amitié. According to the seller, this is one of only 35 copies of the deluxe edition on Japanpapier, a fact which was mentioned by the bibliographers but not in the imprint.
