Bust-length portrait of a young woman, head in three-quarter view turned left; left hand holding a rigid fan (uchiwa, 団扇) depicting Lake Ōmi with sailing boats, titled Ōmi Mizuumi no zu (近江水海之圖, "View of Lake Ōmi"), inscribed kaze (風, "breeze") in a yellow cartouche — a scene usually interpreted as "Returning Sails at Yabase" (矢橋の帰帆), one of the Eight Views of Ōmi (近江八景); signed Sadahide ga (貞秀画) within a red double-gourd-shaped cartouche.
She wears a blue kimono with large chrysanthemum flowers and leaves and blue butterflies; a red undergarment with plum blossom and dots pattern; a checkered obi with a yellow arabesque (karakusa, 唐草) pattern; and a hairstyle with plum blossom kanzashi (簪).
To the left: a Chinese-style cartouche of bamboo frame with cords and tassels, enclosing a folding fan (sensu, 扇子) with a landscape of snow-capped Mount Fuji, inscribed 富士雪 (Fuji yuki, "Snow on Mount Fuji"); above it a red panel inscribed with the series title 繪兄弟 (Ekyōdai, "Matching Pictures").
Seals and signatures. Right: artist's signature Gyokuran Sadahide ga (玉蘭貞秀画) within two double-gourd-shaped cartouches (yellow and red, partially trimmed); censor seal 田中 (Tanaka) for nanushi censor Tanaka Heishirō (田中平四郎), active only in 1843. Left: publisher's mark 十 (jū) for Kojimaya Jūbei (小島屋重兵衛). No date seal. Binding holes along the left margin.
