A young woman (teeth not blackened) seated on kin'un (金雲, golden decorative clouds) before a go board (碁盤, goban); a house with illuminated interior among trees in the background. She wears a purple-and-white checkered kimono with a floral pattern over a red undergarment; a simple hairstyle with a tortoise-shell comb and kanzashi (簪). Head in three-quarter view turned right, eyes directed toward a heart-shaped (inome, 猪の目) mirror floating in the right part of the print, with the face of a kabuki actor, possibly Onoe Eizaburō III (identification uncertain) — the object of the woman's reverie; mirror frame decorated with red drapery and blue tassels.
Inscriptions. Right: artist's signature Kōchōrō Kunisada ga (香朝樓國貞画); publisher's mark 十 (jū) for Kojimaya Jūbei (小島屋重兵衛); censor seal kiwame (極). No date seal. Binding holes along the left margin.
