Fourteen European bookplates of the early twentieth century, predominantly Italian, forming a coherent group associated with the bibliophile circles of Bologna and the erotic collection of Count Luigi Amedeo Ratti Opizzoni di Torre. The set includes works by Armand Rassenfosse, Antonio Rubino, Bruno Burattini, and Alberto Coppa, as well as unsigned or monogrammed plates. Techniques represented comprise etching (with visible platemark), lithography in one or two colours, and various relief processes including woodcut, linocut, and zincography. Several plates explicitly reference erotic collections (“Dai libri erotici…”, “Ex libris eroticis…”, “Ex libris prohibitis”), while others employ allegorical imagery and Latin mottos. The inscriptions appear in Italian, Latin, German, and Spanish (via ownership names), reflecting the cosmopolitan character of the early twentieth-century European ex libris movement.
