Two bookplates mounted on a green backing sheet (172 x 120 mm).
(1) 173 x 54 mm; Printed in black on cream paper; octagonal frame enclosing a flaming brazier flanked by books and scrolls; surrounding Latin motto: “IGNE NATURA RENOVATUR INTEGRA” (“By fire nature is renewed whole”); dated 1922 within the design; at lower margin: “ИЗ КНИГ Э. ГОЛЛЕРБАХА”; beneath, printed in facsimile manuscript: “Сергей Чехонин.” Etching.
(2) 50 x 45 mm; Printed in brown on cream paper; monogram “ЭГ” in medieval arabesque script. Etching.
On the verso of the mount, a pasted manuscript note in blue ink identifies the owner and artist: “Голлербах Эрих Фёдорович. Рис. С. Чехонина (изд. 1922). См. Каталог выставки экслибрисов 1923, табл. XII.” In the upper left corner of the verso, an oval ownership stamp: “Из собрания … Голубовского № …” (initials illegible), with manuscript catalogue number “2367.”
