Half-length portrait of John William Friso, Prince of Orange, turned to the left, face in three-quarter view, gazing directly at the viewer. He wears long, curly hair and classical armour. The portrait is enclosed within an oval frame decorated at the top with a mural crown and a sprig from an orange tree. At upper right is a heraldic shield displaying the arms of the House of Orange-Nassau. Below the portrait is a battle scene framed by military objects, including flags, drums, cannons, and other weapons.
