Description: Left foreground, an old man sits on the ground, seen from behind, legs outstretched and garments bunched behind him, supporting his back. A low horizon with trees extends across the middle distance; at right a peasant woman, also seen from behind, walks toward a tree. Fine parallel hatching articulates sky and ground; a narrow double border frames the scene. From the suite Caprice faict par de la Bella, issued by Henriet. State II per De Vesme/Massar (publisher’s imprint added at lower right).
