Woman shown in three-quarter view, head bowed and turned left, with downward gaze. Hair dressed in shimada-mage (島田髷), of the refined bushi-fujin type (粋な武家婦人の島田), with smooth sides and ears exposed, bound with red cloth at the back; lacquer comb (kushi, 櫛) at the front decorated with a design of heron and crescent moon. Silver kanzashi (簪) with gilt morning glory butterfly finial, another hairpin in gold with a trifoil decoration. She holds a single morning glory (asagao, 朝顔; Ipomoea nil) leaf in her left hand. Dressed in a dark indigo kimono patterned overall with a fine pale dot design and roundels; inner collar of red ground with small white dots. Black obi.

Inscriptions: rectangular cartouche with ornamented finial bearing the series title Adesugata bijin asagao (艷姿美人朝顏, "Morning Glory and Wonderful Women"), upper left; artist's signature Kōchōrō Kunisada ga (香朝樓國貞画) in a red double-gourd cartouche, lower right. No censor seal visible. Publisher's mark presumed 十 (jū) for Kojimaya Jūbei (小島屋重兵衛), though the seal is faint/damaged and cannot be confirmed with certainty. No date seal. Binding holes along the right margin.
